Building plasma self-sufficiency for Canada

At Grifols Canada, we are helping Canada build a stronger, more self-sufficient supply of immunoglobulin medicines for Canadian patients.

Plasma-derived medicines treat rare, chronic and life-threatening conditions. For many patients, immunoglobulin medicines are not optional. They are the only effective treatment available to help them survive and maintain a better quality of life. These medicines can only be made from human plasma donated by people who choose to help others.

Through our long-term agreement with Canadian Blood Services, Grifols collects plasma to produce immunoglobulin medicines for Canadian Blood Services and Canadian patients. Since 2020, Grifols has invested more than $1 billion in Canada, created close to 800 jobs, and helped the country more than double domestic immunoglobulin self-sufficiency to 34%, up from 15%.
